separation - w s merwin
Misha suggested this poem, saying: Read this somewhere and thought it was really nice. Though I really dont know if it qualifies for melancholetta because to me it came across as a positive poem. Then again ,depends on how one is inclined to interpret it! It is, however, taut and beautifully composed!Separation
Your absence has gone through me
Like thread through a needle.
Everything I do is stitched with its color.

My take - positive poems do find a place in Melancholetta...
Every positive poem addresses a negative situation.. so why not?
Yep, very touching and so true.
Pithy and sententious; a gem.

i just fell for this poem - i have never seen such a simple portrayal of such intense and deep emotions!!! just too good.
It has taken me more than a week to muster enough grain to comment on this one. I still don't think I have anything apposite to write.
This was the first post I had read on this blog. Brilliant pick. Not heard of this poet, but this verse makes me want to know more...
The Best one ive read in a LONG time...Really portrays the emotion of separation very well in such a small space, each word worth its place...TOO GOOD
